Services
We carry out all manner of services for classic car owners, from servicing there cherished motor to a major restoration on the family heirloom.
Full Service.
With all full services, we replace oil and filter, spark plugs (if needed), contact breaker points, air filters (if needed). Then a number of checks are carried out. Valve clearances are checked and adjusted; high tension and low tension leads are checked for damage or fraying, antifreeze content is checked and topped up or replaced, fluid reservoirs are checked and condition of brake fluid noted. If the brake fluid is dirty, then we replace it.
Front suspensions are checked and greased (if this is required), wheels are removed and a visual inspection is carried out on the braking system (if anything is required we will inform you, before any repairs are carried out), tyre tread and pressures are checked, a visual check is carried out over the entire car with particular attention to points that would come under an MOT inspection. The vehicle is then tuned with the timing and any emissions adjusted to correct settings.
General Repairs
If your vehicle is in need of any mechanical repairs, we can do these for you. We will advise you which repairs are the most important and require attention straight away, and which are less urgent and can be left without causing any increase in damage and potential cost to yourself.
All the parts that we use are obtained from specialist suppliers and are generally made by some of the original manufacturers.
We offer a high quality service in everything that we do.
Engine and Gearbox Rebuilds.
These can be carried out on either your own components, or on other engines and gearboxes (if your engine or gearbox is not reconditionable).
When the engine or gearbox is stripped down into component form, a thorough examination is carried out. All the vital components are measured to ensure that there will be no problems once built.
Once this assessment has been carried out, items that require to be ground or machined in any way, is sent out to a competent engineering workshop to have the necessary work completed.
All worn items are replaced with new parts, unless reconditioned parts are all that is available. New gasket sets and oil seals are used and then the engine or gearbox is assembled. Once assembled the engine or gearbox can be painted in any colour that is specified and is wrapped up to keep it clean and moisture out.
All our engines and gearboxes are covered by a 12-month guarantee, this covers our labour to remove and refit an engine or gearbox, if it should ever fail.
